At present, the commonly used driving motors for new energy vehicles include two types: permanent magnet synchronous motors and AC asynchronous motors. Most new energy vehicles use permanent magnet synchronous motors, while only a small number of vehicles use AC asynchronous motors.
1. AC motor
AC motors mainly have two major components: stator and rotor. The stator is a cylinder on the outside of Z, with many windings wound on the inside of the cylinder. These windings are connected to an external AC power source, and the entire cylinder is connected to the base and fixed, hence it is called the "stator".
Inside the stator, there are either cylindrical bodies with many windings wound around them or cylindrical bodies with cage structures, which are connected to the power output shaft of the motor and rotate at the same speed, hence they are called "rotors". There is no connection or contact between the rotor and stator, but when the winding on the stator is connected to AC power, the rotor will immediately rotate and output power.
2. Asynchronous motor
The working principle of an AC motor is that the energized winding rotates in a rotating magnetic field. Why does the rotor rotate when AC power is applied to the stator winding when the stator and rotor in an electric motor are not in contact? Its working principle uses two major electromagnetic laws: electromagnetic induction law and Lenz's law. When the winding wound on the stator is energized with alternating current, due to the characteristics of alternating current, the stator winding will generate a rotating electromagnetic field. The winding on the rotor is a closed loop conductor, located in the rotating magnetic field of the stator, which is equivalent to continuously cutting the magnetic induction line of the stator. According to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, when a part of a closed conductor moves through a magnetic field to cut magnetic induction lines, an electric current is generated in the conductor.
